Levels of customization

Basic fit / customization

The fit is only driven by the design model of the equipment item. It is produced in multiple variants (sizes), and the final user may only choose the best fitting size. Sometimes vendors offer minimal and limited customizations to the product, e.g. like shortening the left sleeve by 2cm.

Made-To-Measure

Made-to-Measure refers to a level of customization that falls between ready-to-wear (off-the-rack) clothing and fully bespoke (custom-made) clothing. In Maßkonfektion, garments are produced based on standardized patterns that can be adjusted to fit individual measurements and preferences. These adjustments might include alterations to sleeve length, trouser length, waist size, and other key measurements. The process typically involves choosing a base size closest to the individual's measurements and making minor modifications to ensure a better fit. While the options for customization are more limited compared to fully bespoke clothing, made-to-measure provide a higher level of fit and personalization compared to ready-to-wear clothing.

Bespoke Tailoring

Bespoke Tailoring represents the highest level of customization and craftsmanship in clothing. With bespoke tailoring, garments are created entirely from scratch, based on the client's unique measurements, body shape, and personal preferences. Bespoke Tailoring in most cases comes with the option for the customer to select the ingredients of the product.Every aspect of the garment, from the choice of fabric and lining to the design details and finishing touches, can be tailored to the individual's preferences. Bespoke garments are renowned for their attention to detail, handcrafted techniques, and the level of expertise that goes into creating a truly one-of-a-kind piece of clothing.

Fitting process

The basic fit "only" takes to find the propper size. Made to Measure or bespoke tailoring may involve multiple fittings and consultations with a skilled tailor to ensure a precise fit and desired style.

Benefits

Equipment sizes in these quality levels delivers benefits to the users over regular mass produced off-the-rack items:

  • Proper fit - Ordering the right size ensures that the clothing will fit properly, which is essential for both comfort and appearance. Clothing that is too tight or too loose can be uncomfortable to wear and can look unflattering.
  • Cost - Ordering the wrong size can be costly, as returning and exchanging items can be time-consuming and may incur additional shipping costs.
  • Time-saving - Knowing the correct size beforehand saves time and effort in the long run. It avoids the need for multiple fittings, exchanges, or returns, which can be a hassle.
  • Availability - Ordering the correct size ensures that the desired item will be available in that size, which can be important for limited edition or popular items that may sell out quickly.
  • Confidence - Wearing equipment that fits properly can boost confidence and self-esteem. Equipment that is too small or too large can make people feel self-conscious and uncomfortable.

Typically there is an initial Measuring-In, when a staff member is onboarding the company. But it also makes sense to regularly control the evaluated sizes by follow-up Measuring-In. This can happen before or during each order in certain time intervals.
