By specifying a order delivery option the requesting party can define the abstract form of a desired delivery type, through which supply chain partners can communicate. Each partner can individually decide for an appropriate shipment path to the agreed delivery option.

Examples
  • "Standard" - leaves the supplier the choice to deliver with his standard delivery service provider with standard conditions.
  • "24h day postal express" - leaves the choice to the supplier of delivery service provider and product. As long it arrives within 24h after order
  • "SWISS POST A-Post" - This is a pretty concrete delivery option, defining the vendor and product of the delivery service provider.
  • "Pickup" - This means that the goods will be picked up at a predefined pickup station
  • "CoMail" - This means that the supplier has to ship goods to the handover point of the CO-Mail of the ordering party

Types of order delivery options

Generally there exist these order delivery option types.

Postal

Postal shipment is the default in eCommerce. If a delivery option of this type is selected, the ordering party has to provide a post shipment address (e.g. in ZUGSEIL Shop) to which it requests the delivery.

Pickup

Pickup may happen at self or supplier operated points of service (e.g. pickup station, shops, measuring-in sites, ... ). When a delivery option of this type is selected, the ordering party has to select a pickup-station for the list of available pickup stations.

No matter is self operated or operated by the supplier, each pickup station has postal shipment address to which the goods have to be delivered to (handover address). This postal delivery address is defined in the pickup station base data.

Company Mail

Company mail defines that the "last mile" to the final customer is delivered by a company internal logistic organization. When the order defines a CO-Mail delivery option type, the ordering party must define a company-internal address, which typically is just one code.

Each Co-Mail delivery option has to define a handover postal shipment address, where goods are handed over from the supplier to the co-mail carrier.

Usage & Examples

Single digital usage scenario

Order Delivery Options Single Digital Scenario.png

In this single digital scenarion, the user and the fulfillment partner are identical.

Prerequisite processes

  1. Inside the digital an order delivery option "Express Delivery" is created.
  2. The shopping purpose in shop is configured to support "Express Delivery" with
    • possible entitlement budget delivery service charging is configured for usage of this order delivery option with this shopping purpose (optional)
    • possible shipment paths and products being configured for usage of this order delivery option

Internal order process

  1. First the user orders items in a shop application. The user selects the order delivery option "Express delivery", which becomes part of one or multiple fulfillment plans at one or multiple positions of the order.
  2. If defined at the shopping purpose, the entitlement can be charged with a service cost associated with the order delivery option.
  3. One or multiple shipments are triggered from local warehouses.
  4. Once shipped, the cost of goods is charged to the cost center of the ordering person. Eventually an internally associated shipment product is charged on the cost center as well.

Customer/Supplier multi-digital usage scenario

Order Delivery Options Multi Digital Scenario

    • possible entitlement budget delivery service charging is configured for usage of this order delivery option with this shopping purpose (optional)
  3. Mapping of order delivery options of customer and supplier digital. This can happen
    • through adoption from the supplier [customer side mapping] or

Internal order process

  1. First the user orders items in a shop application. The user selects the order delivery option "Express delivery", which becomes part of one or multiple fulfillment plans at one or multiple positions of the order.
  2. If defined at the shopping purpose, the entitlement can be charged with a service cost associated with the order delivery option.
  3. At least one purchase order is created, which is transmitted to the supplier. During transmission the order deliery option is translated either on the customer or at the supplier side to the supplier's order delivery option.
  4. One or multiple shipments are triggered from local warehouses.
  5. The shipped items are charged on a bill, eventually together with the used shipment productOrder delivery option types

Definition process

  • Order delivery options can be freely be defined by each digital through the delivery options administraton app.
  • Order delivery options can be made available to other digitals. If made available to other digitals, they can be adopted through the delivery option sets administration app
